"Our mission is to provide high quality civil legal advice, representation, and education free of charge to the disadvantaged children, families and individuals in Palm Beach County so as to protect their personal safety, enhance their opportunities and living conditions, and promote self-sufficiency."

Education Advocacy

The Education Advocacy Project (EAP) provides advice and legal representation in education matters for low-income parents, caregivers, and students. EAP provides assistance in civil education matters, including:

  • Special Education

  • Disability accommodations and services

  • Students with learning disabilities

  • Students with physical/developmental disabilities

  • Evaluations

  • Early Intervention services

  • Excessive suspensions

  • Arrests from school

  • Use of restraints

  • Expulsions

  • Alternative Education placement disputes

  • Children in residential programs

  • School registration and enrollment

  • English Language Learners

  • Immigrant students

  • Homeless students

  • Foster children

  • Transitions

  • Transportation

How to qualify for services?​

Generally, in order to be eligible for free legal assistance from the Legal Aid Society, your income cannot exceed 150% (or one and one-half times) the Federal Poverty Guidelines as outlined below:
